David Mordvinstseia was born in Baku, Azerbaijan with a congenital heart defect so severe that doctors said they could not operate. His fingers, toes, and lips looked blue from lack of oxygen and he spent his childhood as an invalid, hardly speaking.
Last month, thanks to financial help from the local Jewish community, his mother, Albina, flew with him to Hadassah Hospital to have his heart repaired. The Israeli/Palestinian cardiac surgical team of Eli Milgalter and Bishar Marzuqa performed the surgery and repaired David’s heart completely.
“I came to the best place in the world,” said a joyous mom.
