Prof. David Branski, Chairman of Pediatrics at the Hadassah Medical Center, and Prof. Elliot Berry, Director of the Department of Human Nutrition and Metabolism in the Braun School of Public Health of the Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Medicine, were featured speakers in a 10-day seminar on pediatrics and public health in the Argentinean province of Tucuman. They received a most warm welcome and found themselves honored on multiple occasions. The entire Cabinet joined the Minister of Health to meet with them. Their visit “may be the biggest hit ever in the Public Heath Service,” reports Mario Ringler, President of the Seminario Rabinico Latinoamericano (the Latin American Rabbinical Seminary of Buenos Aires), who initiated this academic exchange. The physicians were declared “Special Honorary Distinguished Visitors of the Medical School of Tucuman University.” In the Palace of Government, where they were received by the Governor of Tucuman Province, they were honored with the title of “Special Guests of The Tucuman Province.” The Governor eagerly discussed the potential for future projects between Tucuman and Hadassah.
“We are confident that other seminars will follow in the future, strengthening the collaboration between Argentina and Israel. Thanks to the expertise of Mario Ringler, it all came together for mutual benefit,” noted Hadassah Argentina President Debora Lang, who helped to facilitate the visit and was so pleased to be a part of this venture.
