• Nurse Hani Shteinberg, Hadassah Medical Center Transplantations Coordinator, gave a presentation at the annual conference of the European Transplantation Coordinators Organization (ETCO) in Wroclow, Poland.
  • Prof. Eitan Kerem, Head of Hadassah’s Pediatric Department at Hadassah-Mount Scopus; Dr. Michael Wilschanski, a senior pediatrician; Shoshi Armoni, a nurse; and Hila Elishar, a Hadassah dietician, were featured presenters at the annual conference of the European Cystic Fibrosis Organization in Copenhagen, Denmark.
  • Prof. Meir Liebergall, Head of Hadassah’s Orthopedic Departments, and Prof. Leo Joskowicz, his partner and colleague from the Hebrew University, recently attended the annual meeting of the International Society for Computer Assisted Orthopedic Surgery (CAOS Int.) in Montreal, Canada. They received the award for the best clinical presentation from the podium.

    Shteinberg’s presentation covered the obstacles that Palestinian transplant candidates face, including dealing with the geopolitical situation, the bureaucracy, communication and cultural gaps, and financial problems. Her presentation also covered the ways she and her colleagues surmount these difficulties on behalf of their patients.

    Prof. Kerem, who is a member of the board of the European Cystic Fibrosis Organization, presented an analysis of a data base which he initiated and built. Shoshi Armoni presented her work on adherence to treatment. Hila Elishar described the case of a pregnant woman with cystic fibrosis who gave birth to a healthy daughter. Dr. Wilschanski summarized the special methods Hadassah employs to diagnose complicated cases.

    Prof. Liebergall and Prof. Joskowicz described how they concluded that state-of-the-art computer-assisted surgery is an effective technique for knee replacement.
