Mrs. Chantal Campaore, wife of the President of Burkina Faso, West Africa, visited the Hadassah Medical Center this past August, where Prof. Shlomo Maayan, head of Hadassah’s AIDS Center, offered his help to her country in combating HIV/AIDS.
After being greeted by Hadassah Director General Prof. Shlomo Mor-Yosef, Mrs. Campaore was taken on a tour of the Charlotte R. Bloomberg Mother and Child Center. She then was treated to a presentation by Prof. Shlomo Ma’ayan about how he and his colleagues deal with HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia and bring Ethiopian doctors to Israel for training.

Mrs. Compaore was accompanied by her personal aide, Mrs. Assetou Ashforde, Mr. Jacque Revach of the Department of Africa in Israel’s Foreign Office, Mr. Eitan Israely, Consul General Honoraire of Burkina Faso, and some personal friends. She was most appreciative of Prof. Maayan’s offer to share his expertise on AIDS prevention and treatment and to help her country acquire funding from an international fund.
