A decade ago Rabbi Yeshayahu Heber, whose life was saved by a kidney transplant from a friend, started Matnat Chaim (Gift of Life), an organization promoting transplants from altruistic live donors. Little could he imagine that today, Israel would be fifth in the world in the number of transplants from live donors. The 684th transplant was just performed at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem.
