Donating both funds and their time to provide soccer-themed music, face-painting, and gifts, the Israeli fans of Futbol Club Barcelona created a fun-filled day for more than 100 children hospitalized in the pediatric, pediatric surgery, and pediatric hemato-oncology departments at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem. The April 7 event was organized by Yossi Alex, a social work student conducting his clinical studies at Hadassah.
One baby less than a year old with Down syndrome showed everyone that red is his favorite color. “When we gave him both a red and a blue balloon, one for each hand,” said Sandra Kudsieh, who served as a liaison between the departments and Alex, “the baby quickly let the blue balloon fly away, but he spent hours playing with the red one.”
