Dear Friend of Hadassah
Their long nightmare is over. Our long nightmare is over. Our hostages are finally home.
On the eve of Simchat Torah – two Hebrew years less one day since they were brutally kidnapped and Israel’s bitter war of survival began – a cloud has lifted. All of us – Israelis and our friends everywhere – can breathe again. Our boys and their families can live again!
This is, first and foremost, a day for rejoicing.
But our joy is not complete. Too many of our hostages will never share in our celebrations nor be reunited with their loved ones. Too many of our soldiers have fallen so that we could reach this day. They will be forever in our hearts, their loss an everlasting scar on a people’s psyche.
Now, though, the healing can begin. And just as we have been throughout this ordeal, Hadassah will be on the front lines of helping a nation recover.
Of repairing the horrific wounds that our soldiers and civilians have suffered.
Of rehabilitating them, so that they can return to full lives.
Of enabling Israelis in their hundreds of thousands to overcome the deep and protracted trauma the past two years have inflicted.
Hadassah is where healing happens. Hadassah is where life happens.
Am Yisrael Chai.
