The walk began at the Auckland Hebrew Congregation in Greys Ave where there was much memory searching from the ex-Hebrew school 1967 attendees who helped to name many of the faces in the archival photographs from that year.

The walkers proceeded through Myers Park to the statue of Sir Dove-Myer Robinson in Aotea Square and then up Kitchener St and Bowen Ave  to the Trish Clark Gallery that was once the Hebrew School/Hall.

Thanks to University House we had an unprecedented chance to see inside and learn about the Old Princes St Shule where Dian Ross spoke about the history of the building and older members could reminiscence. On display were posters of enlarged archival photos of the original interior, generously donated by Ricoh.

The walkers passed old mansion homes once owned by wealthy Jewish families and now part of the University. Down Grafton Road and into the Domain they walked up the Centennial walkway towards the Museum to read the plaque at the Raoul Wallenberg memoral tree .

Thanks to Malcolm Silverman and the Chevra Kadisha and Benevolent Society we were given access to the K’Road cemetery and the Tahara House.

The afternoon ended with refreshments in the Kadimah school gym.

Unfortunately we didn’t reach our goal of $7,500 towards equipment for the Underground Surgical Centre at Hadassah, which is vitally needed now with the escalation of tragic terror attacks.
