The Hadassah Medical Center has opened Israel’s first simulation center for computer-guided surgery, which will be used to test new technologies and to train surgeons in all types of innovative procedures.
The Center brings together representatives of industry, clinicians, and academics. Completely designed by Hadassah orthopedists, it includes special computers, digital infrastructure for communication with imaging centers in Hadassah’s hospitals, and computerized navigation systems.
A world leader in the field of computer-guided surgery, Hadassah performed the first minimally invasive computer-guided hip replacement three years ago. “This Center,” says Prof. Meir Liebergall, head of Orthopedics at Hadassah, “is a product of one of Hadassah’s committees of excellence, which we established to start building the medicine of tomorrow.”
