In recognition of its quality performance in harvesting stem cells from live donors and performing bone marrow transplants, the Hadassah Medical Center’s Department of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Cancer Immunotherapy has received the honor of accreditation from the prestigious Joint Accreditation Committee (JACIE) of the International Society  for Cellular Therapy (ISCT) and the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT).

“This prestigious recognition creates tremendous opportunities for joint research and collaboration with leading departments worldwide,” notes Prof. Reuven Or, the Department’s director. “The rigorous process of receiving JACIE’s recognition,” he explains, “was extremely demanding. We understood that JACIE’s recognition would formally line up our department’s amazing work alongside other leading bone marrow departments across the globe. Therefore, we created a quality assurance team within our department to assure that all of the JACIE’s standards and criteria were met to the highest degree.”

JACIE, jointly established by the ISCT and ESBMT, aims to promote “high-quality patient care and laboratory performance in stem cell collection, processing, and transplantation centers through the development of global standards and an internationally recognized system of accreditation.”
