Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem has been selected by Israeli start-up Itay and Beyond as a testing site for their new and innovative 3D technology to help develop treatments for autism spectrum disorder, reports The Jerusalem Post.

Their work at Hadassah will include the creation of brain organoids and a 3D “brain on a chip” to test and repurpose existing drugs and develop new ones.

“Organoids are known, but not a brain chip; we are the first to do it,” Prof. Ariel Tenenbaum, chief of pediatrics at Hadassah, told the Post.

“We were chosen to work on a brain chip because Hadassah has an accelerator with companies that have innovative ideas,” he added. “We put stress on autism, but my team and I are also involved in Down syndrome.”
