The boy who greeted the birthday girl with an explosion of confetti had no idea that the force of the tiny pieces being released through a cannon could blind Lihi Atias. Fortunately, quick surgery by Hadassah Medical Organization ophthalmologists saved the 16-year-old’s vision.

 “Confetti cannons can cause severe ocular trauma resulting in permanent vision loss,” cautions Hadassah’s Dr. Nadav Levinger. “Increasing everyone’s awareness of this hazard is necessary to prevent eye injuries.”
