Fourteen physicians from Marseilles, France, belonging to a physicians’ association entitled MOUJICA (Medecins Orientaux Juifs, Italiens, Corses, Armeniens) visited the Hadassah Medical Center in October, where Dr. Sara Shapira, a Hadassah psychologist, and Michelle Haouzi-Bashan, Head Nurse of the Hadassah AIDS unit, addressed the delegation.Mrs. Haouzi-Bashan informed the group about Hadassah’s work with AIDS patients, both within the Ethiopian community of Israel and in Ethiopia and other African countries.

Prior to their trip, reports Beatrice Birnbaum, Hadassah International Director of Development for Europe, she was in contact with the delegation’s organizer, who arranged for the visit with Julie Benbenishty, a nurse in Hadassah’s Intensive Care Department. In addition, Mrs. Birnbaum relates, “We wrote a welcome letter to each member of the group.” Plans are to be in touch with the delegation members following their experience at Hadassah as well.
