As part of their triple Bat-Mitzvah celebration at Hadassah Hospital Ein Kerem, three teenagers from Plantation, Fl., along with family and friends, delivered baskets of toys and arts and crafts supplies to the young patients in Hadassah’s new Pediatric Ophthalmology Clinic.

The family created the baskets in the Hadassah Hospital mall toy store and then brought them to the clinic. Senior Ophthalmologist Dr. Milka Matanis thanked the teens and explained that most of the small patients were referred by their local doctors because they had complex eye conditions that Hadassah was equipped to treat.

Then, with a backdrop of the Chagall windows of Hadassah’s Abbell Synagogue, Gabrielle and Carly, who are twins, and their older sister, Aleksi, became B’not Mitzva, in the presence of their grandparents, Sophie and Simeon Gottlieb of Coral Springs, FL. They read the Torah and led the morning service, concluding with a special prayer for a young man who had just been brought into the emergency room following a terror attack.

“I can’t think of a more meaningful way for our family to celebrate the Bat Mitzvahs of our granddaughters than passing on to the younger generation our commitment to Hadassah’s life-saving mission,” noted Mrs. Gottlieb, a board member of the Broward (FL) Region of Hadassah.
