The entire Hadassah Medical Center community—including staff, management, Board of Directors, Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America, Hadassah International and all employees—proudly congratulates Prof. Dina Ben Yehuda, head of the hematology division at Hadassah Medical Center, on her selection to light a torch at the state ceremony on the 78th Independence Day of the State of Israel.

Prof. Ben-Yehuda, in addition to leading Hadassah’s Hematology Division, has held prominent roles in the Israeli health system, including Chairperson of the Drug Basket, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Hadassah and the Hebrew University, and Director of the Department of Research Medical Education at the Weizmann Institute. She also received the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff’s Commendation for her work during the Yom Kippur War.
Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Hadassah, Mrs. Dalia Itzik:
Prof. Ben-Yehuda is a symbol and model of the strong Israeli spirit. Her work for patients and for advancing the health system in general embodies the values of Zionism and love of humanity. She leads the State of Israel to global achievements.
We are immensely proud of Prof. Ben Yehuda.”
Hadassah Director General, Prof. Yoram Weiss:
“Prof. Ben Yehuda inspires all those involved in healing, treatment, science, and development in the health field, and training the next generation of doctors in Israel.
She has made significant contributions to Hadassah and the State of Israel over many years through scientific breakthroughs and by saving many lives.
We are proud of Prof. Ben Yehuda, and wholeheartedly support and agree with Minister Miri Regev and the prize committee that she is the most appropriate choice to represent the Israeli health system at the Independence Day ceremony.”
