The Hadassah Medical Center has received the gift of a much-needed Amino Acid Analyzer system from the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) in Melbourne, Australia, thanks to a collaboration between the two institutions, initiated by Hadassah Australia.
The new system replaces one that had been irreparably damaged and will contribute enormously to maintaining research momentum in the genetics field at Hadassah, according to Prof. Orly Elpeleg, head of Hadassah’s Department of Genetic and Metabolic Diseases and one of the world’s foremost experts on genetics disorders. “It was a totally unexpected gesture from David Thorburn (head of the genetic disorders unit at MCRI),” said Prof. Elpeleg, “and an amazing first dividend from what is shaping up as a very productive research relationship between our two institutions.”
