At an annual luncheon, hosted at the Israelite Sport Center in Mexico, in the presence of the President of Mexico, Vicente Fox, and about 500 leaders and members of the Jewish community, Hadassah Mexico Director Ethel Fainstein made sure that the Hadassah Medical Organization and Hadassah International achieved comprehensive publicity. The topic at this year’s event was institutions in Israel that have made a contribution to Mexican society. Ms. Fainstein prepared a video presentation that showcased the nearly a century of partnership between the Hadassah Medical Organization and Israel, and the work of Hadassah International in Mexico, including the sponsoring of a nursing symposium and various health seminars with specialists from Hadassah Hospital.
The presentation also publicized the academic exchanges between Mexican physicians and Hadassah Hospital, bringing out that currently twelve Mexican doctors are studying at Hadassah, specializing in urology, internal medicine, emergency and trauma, neurosurgery, pediatrics, ophthalmology, and cardiology. Dr. Mariano Lopez Hernandez, physician to President Fox and director of the Hospital del Estado Mayor Presidencial, notes in the video that he studied at Hadassah’s Master of Public Health program. He related that he applies the principles he learned at Hadassah in overseeing his hospital staff.
