A recent study headed by Dr. Daniela Katz, Sarcoma Unit Coordinator at the Hadassah University Medical Center’s Sharett Institute of Oncology, suggests that the biological therapy given to patients with kidney cancer is also effective for patients with sarcoma, a bone and soft tissue cancer.

The therapy is an oral medication called Pazopanib. When given to adults with advanced kidney cancer, the evidence indicates a statistically significant improvement in retarding tumor progression. Hadassah Hospital-Ein Kerem’s Department of Oncology is now offering the treatment free of charge to sarcoma patients with advanced or metastatic disease.
