Simon and Reyna Nizri were in Israel recently with generations of their family—children and grandchildren—to model for them their commitment to saving lives, to Hadassah, and to Israel. The Mexico City couple dedicated a Pre-operative Surgical Center in the Sarah Wetsman Davidson Hospital Tower, an advanced 19-story citadel for treatment and research.

For Ruben and Telma Mischne, who also live in Mexico City, a gift of a Heart/lung Transplant Unit in the same building celebrated Ruben’s recovery from serious illness.

These members of the Society of Major Donors of Hadassah brought honor to the Mexican Jewish community by supporting these Hadassah projects in the organization’s Centennial Year.

Hadassah was established in 1912 as a partnership between the Diaspora and pre-state Israel, focusing on health care, education and child rescue. There are 330,000 members in the United States and supporters around the world. The $363 million-dollar Sarah Wetsman Davidson Hospital Tower, named for the founder of the Detroit chapter of Hadassah whose son’s donation kicked off the campaign, is Hadassah’s gift to the people of Israel for its 100th Aniversary Celebration.
