A third group of Ethiopian doctors and nurses has arrived at Hadassah as part of the “Train the Trainers” program to help Ethiopia cope with its AIDS pandemic. “This is the best group yet,” commented Professor Shlomo Maayan, Head of Hadassah’s AIDS Center and the architect of Hadassah’s involvement in this life-saving venture.”The success of our previous two trainings has drawn top professionals to experience our multidisciplinary program for themselves,” Dr. Maayan explains. For a nurse from Gondar, the trip to Israel was his first exposure to a well-equipped medical center. “Here we’re seeing the way treatment should ideally be done,” the nurse noted.
The training program, funded by the United States Centers for Disease Control (CDC), is a partnership between the Hadassah Medical Organization and the University of Seattle’s International Training and Education Center on HIV.
