United Kingdom Physicist Stephen Hawking was in Israel recently to give a lecture about black holes and to promote British science. While in Israel, he was impressed to learn about Israel’s creation of a brain trust aimed at curing amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), from which he suffers. The Hadassah Medical Center is among the medical institutions that will receive funding from the Israel Society for ALS to put the best minds to work on this degenerative nerve disease.
