On a visit sponsored by the Canada-Israel Committee (CIC), participants from North York General Hospital, Toronto were briefed about Israel’s health care system and the unique role Hadassah plays, including its cutting-edge stem cell research, trauma medicine, and collaboration with East Jerusalem’s Augusta Victoria Hospital to treat Palestinian children who have cancer.

The CIC represents the Canadian Jewish community before government on all matters pertaining to Canada-Israel relations and Middle East affairs. CIC brings many missions to Israel each year of Canadian parliamentarians, government officials, leading business men, and other public figures. While at Hadassah, the delegates heard presentations from Dr. Yuval Weiss, Director, Hadassah Hospital-Ein Kerem; Dr. Ora Paltiel, a native Canadian, hematologist, and expert on cancer epidemiology at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Braun School of Public Health and Community Medicine; Dr. Elisha Waldman of the Department of Pediatric Hemato-Oncology; and Ron Krumer, Director of External Relations, who explained to the delegates the relationship between the Hadassah Medical Center and Canadian Hadassah-WIZO.
