IDF soldier Emmanuel Zerah was removing a Palestinian flag from the Gaza border when it blew up in his hand.  He was seriously injured.

When he arrived at the Hadassah Hospital at Ein Kerem (where his father Dr. Marc Zerah is an obstetrician), he was operated on by Dr. Carol Pidhorz, an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hand surgery.

Hadassah National President Ellen Hershkin, and members of a Hadassah Mission from the US visited him in the hospital. (See video below).

“I’m so glad you’ve come,” said Emmanuel. “I want to thank you for everything you’ve done for me.”

Said President Hershkin: “We want to thank you for defending the Jewish people.”

The Zerah family moved to Israel from France 18 years ago. Emmanuel’s room in the Sarah Wetsman Davidson Hospital Tower was donated by the Ohana family of France.
