Hadassah hospitals operate a heralded social work the staff of which treat patients and their families in all hospital wards, clinics, and institutes.
The areas of activity and responsibility are diverse, ranging from direct care for patients and their families, assistance in delivering difficult news, support in coping with serious illnesses and complex births, along with providing discharge planning as well as guidance in accessing and realizing medical rights.
With the outbreak of the war with Iran, the social workers aided in organizing the departments for emergency conditions and ensuring the protection of patients. The department’s team assisted in discharging patients, supported those experiencing distress, and worked alongside all Hadassah teams to address and resolve emerging complex issues.
At the site of the tragic incident in Beit Shemesh, some 20 social workers assisted the victims – searching for information about missing persons, participating in delivering difficult news, dealing with emotional reactions, and helping community members resolve hardships that ensued.
World Social Work Day is an opportunity to express our gratitude to the social workers who work tirelessly in caring for patients and serve as an integral and highly significant part of the multidisciplinary team at Hadassah.
